Once From The Sea

In the dry lands
we languished
a long time—
contemplating skies
and giant rock formations
crevices sheltering
insects & larvae
animal bones once
from the sea.
I teased you to dip
your toe in
the movement
— fluid and steady.
Our eyes proved
an unreliable source.
