Kate Ellis – Tribute to Seamus Heaney

Tribute to Seamus Heaney

By Kate Ellis*

Gone, departed. Left us in despair,
Poet of the century,
Our literary heir.

Master in the art of word,
Our heart’s definitively stirred.

A gift like yours, so hard to find.
The world has lost a precious mind…

*Kate Ellis attends Saint Enda’s Secondary School in Galway. She is 15 years old, lives in Killanin and loves writing poetry.

Well done Kate! A lovely tribute indeed.

beautifully and economically crafted Kate . your writing is succinct and distinctive – and lacks the unnecessary verbosity people like me tend to be hooked up on. Keep your voice this way – sharp and to the point . the other thing is a curse affliction – yours is a special and precious gift
A sentiment felt by millions today
