Matt Mooney – Gan Dídean

Beidh Matt Mooney i mBaile Locha Riach, a bhaile dhúchais, sar i bhfad ag léamh a chuid filíochta as Gaeilge ag an Ceolchoirm Mhór oíche Shathairn 19ú Bealtaine i rith Féile Raiftearaí (16ú – 20ú Bealtaine).

Gan Dídean

Gan dídean, é ag lorg déirce
i mBaile Átha Cliath aréir.
Bhí sé ina shuí mar Bhúda,
é istigh ina mhála codlata
is gan de chomhluadar aige
ach uisce fuar dubh na Life,
thíos faoin droichead
is í ar a slí ó Chill Mhantáín,
ag freagairt ghlao na mara
atá riamh ag feitheamh léi;
is fáilte sa bhaile dóibh siúd
atá ag dul thart gan aird air,
i ngar satailt air ar uairibh,
ag cur isteach air gan dabht,
é i dtaithí ar bheith scoite,
agus ar chiúnas an aonaráin;
an t-éadóchas go smior ann,
gan súil aige le saol níos fearr
ach é de shíor mar seo
is a lámh sínte amach aige,
cupán cairtchláir chugainn,
folamh go fóill, faraor,
lenár n-easpa flaithiúlachta
ach caithim bonn isteach ann.
Ceapaim go gcloisim
macalla ag teacht óna chroí
agus an píosa airgid ag titim.
