Michael J. Leach – Horseshoe Removal

Dr Michael J. Leach is the Data and Quality Specialist at Loddon Mallee Integrated Cancer Service. He is also a published epidemiologist, writer, poet, and visual artist who originally trained in pharmacy. His poetry is published or forthcoming in the Haiku Journal, the Medical Journal of Australia, Medical Humanities, The Galway Review, A New Ulster, Survive & Thrive, The Journal of Humanities in Rehabilitation, and Pulse – Voices from the Heart of Medicine. He lives in Bendigo, Australia.

Horseshoe Removal

Out back,
The farrier
Wields iron hoof nippers.
Horses lose old shoes and bestow
Good luck.
