fred1Belfast-born short-story writer, poet and novelist FRED JOHNSTON has been nominated for a prestigious Pushcart Prize by the literary magazine, The Luxembourg Review. The Review, published in Belgium, is edited by Adele Okali and has an international advisory panel. The selected poem, ‘Business End,’ appeared in a recent issue of the Review.

The Pushcart Prize has been described as ‘The most honored literary project in America.’ Previous recipients have included Colm McCann, Joyce Carol Oates and Wendell Berry. The Pushcart Prize is an American literary prize published by Pushcart Press that honors the best ‘poetry, short fiction, essays or published in the small presses over the previous year.’
