Minister for the Diaspora, Jimmy Deenihan launched in Dublin Matt Mooney’s new book of poems ‘Earth to Earth’

mat 1The Dublin launch by Mr Jimmy Deenihan, Minister for the Diaspora, of Matt Mooney’s new book of poems ‘Earth to Earth’ took place in Club na Múinteoirí on Thursday evening, November 19 2015. The Club is managed by the illustrious Tadhg Mac Pháidín.

The evening went off beautifully due mainly to the enthusiasm and organisational skills of Frank O’ Carroll the popular writer from Ballylongford, domiciled in the city.

He was also one of the excellent readers of the evening in the company of well known poet Patrick Deeley, a native of East Galway who was MC of the event, Joe Dwyer the President of Club na Múinteoirí and a Joycean scholar, Éamon Ó Murchú , one of the most eminent sons of Listowel in the capital, Anne Haverty writer, of ‘One Day as a Tiger’ fame and cousin of Matt and of course the hard working Jimmy Deenihan himself, straight from the Dáil who played a blinder poetically this time! Seán Ó hEarcáin, a native of South Kerry, captivated the audience with his songs which added to the graciousness and ambience of an evening when people, poets and poetry rhymed – loyal friends (Tony Guerin the playwright turned up from Lisselton) and family members who had gathered under the bright chandeliers in the historic Parnell Square for what turned out to be a very happy cultural celebration.
