So There We Are 1

Ireland got Eclipsed
I saw it
The sun burnt into my retina so I don’t need memory to remember it
A moon shaped sun
Is now a moon shaped blindspot
To add to my blindspot of meanness
My blindspot of my pushiness
And my blindspot of my gluttony
These other blindspots were regular circular vignettes with soft satellite dots
But my moon shaped blindspot is a mean, pushy, gluttonous sun’s criminal act.
This makes me feel good about myself.
So there we are.

So There We Are 2

Ghost island-driving
We race for the theatre
The bell is at eight
We don’t deviate from the middle of the road
Culture vultures Jortle Jortle Jortle
We hurtle above scrutiny
We consume
Vroom Jhug Jhug Jhug Jhug Jhug
We sample and critique
Ours it is, but we are veneers nearing the lights,
traffic magnifies
In all four lanes, and also on the ghost island.
Ghost-island parking
There’s a rush for the theatre
Alighting in loud Stradivarius
Wing mirrors flex themselves in our afterglow: Hollow titanium gloss
Foiled at front row art comedy show
The lights are on us. The mic is towards us. The Gods are with us.
And staying this time.
We dance like there is no tomorrow
And spend the early hours tripping home.
Claiming tomorrow, we present for critique
Burping and sashaying and freer than our wheels.
The squares can eat Squares, but credit the charm of their leading ladies.

So There We Are 3

I’m not for literature or opera
I want to cuddle a kitty
I scream mezzo-soprano miaow
I better get used to the fine arts now
