Ace of Swords Publishing to release The Trials and Tribulations of a Millennial Woman, an original and distinctive poetry collection from Irish author Emma Kate Brown, who gives an insight into the hardships that women experience and tells a tale of strength, survival, and endurance to face those hardships head-on and continue to thrive in spite of them.

The Trials and Tribulations of a Millennial Woman is a body of work that represents the challenges of modern life that women predominantly face in today’s world, from trying to date through an epidemic of nonchalance, societal pressures, motherhood, oppression, and facing hatred and mistreatment from abusive men.The poems featured in this beautiful body of work not only validates universal experiences of bereavement and heartbreak; but they also provide comfort for the reader in knowing that you are not alone. You never were.

Emma Kate Brown is a thirty-ish-year-old single mother from Ireland. Proudly hailing from North Dublin, Emma credits her quick wit, empathic nature, and unshakable resilience to her upbringing and the wonderful people she grew up with in the suburb of Donaghmede.

Writing for as long as she can remember, Emma was first recognised for her talent at just thirteen years old after being inspired by the incomparable Maeve Binchy—a true heroine in Irish literature. Emma’s refusal to conform to perfectionist ideals makes for raw, real, and unwaveringly honest poetry that often details her own personal struggles and life experiences. This in turn gives Emma’s work a relatability factor and makes for a unique reading experience.

The book’s cover art was designed by one of our own Montreal artists, and embodies AOS’ mission: we are the home of spontaneity, diversity, and beautiful writing.
