Tell Them

how I was being chased by a mob
a mob I didn’t know or even know about

intent on grabbing me for some purpose
though I couldn’t imagine what
I kept running really fast

faster than my brain could compute.
I began noticing red pools splashing
under my feet and sending
red up my legs and down
them more and more
as I ran.

Then I had no legs. Tell them what
caused me to lose my legs. Tell them
it was unfortunate.
My spirit had grown so dark—
It was only a matter of time and circumstances.
