My Way
What you have I may want
a look inside
your cupboards
closets and under the beds
where quiet things
are kept in boxes—
The garden filled with roses
from the sweat of your labor
I will dig up.
Bigger than you will ever be
I will take what suits my fancy.
Your children and ripe daughters.
In a pinch your old people
just because they might be
standing in the way of my way.
Anything of value
or much less
I will take.
Whatever I can get my hands on.
