Unfurling

You wake to find sundown
has eclipsed the day
parachute of days
unfurling
white silk bursts
in crystalline sky
Could be a painting
moldering in a cellar
dug out of ground
long after WW2—
that persecution.
Or is the constant sun gone
down some illogical
dream sequence
you were meant to then forget.
