Richard W. Halperin – The Eternal Face

photo-2Richard W. Halperin‘s most recent full collection for Salmon Poetry Limited is Quiet in a Quiet House. His most recent chapbook for Lapwing Press, Belfast, is Blue Flower. This summer he will be reading at the Monasterevin Hopkins festival and at On the Nail, Limerick.

The Eternal Face

All train stations are Anna Karenina.

The damage one does to another human being
Is eternal,
No matter what kind acts
One later does.

Love may be eternal.
That is the feel of it.
O God! – that it may be.

But there on the platform
She still stands.
