RILKE’S DESK: A Postscript

The day, like no other,
Wipes its brow
On the petrified sun
And dreams
The autonomy
Of an ilex tree
Ascending Jacob’s ladder.

For now, you have
Inherited the pinch of
A prodigal hour –
Grown
The starling’s plumage
In variable shades
Of tumultuous dust…

Be gratuitous. Don’t
Scramble
The cornucopia
In whose
Wind-swept hands
We draft
The ledger.

PENDULUM

… Like a Mapuche National
I dream of sunken ships,
Shadows that walk
The Milky Way
– And the empty nests
Of telegraph poles.

The grass grows
‘Second sight’
High
While

The date tree
Blends
Its form

Of exorcism -, waiting…
Waiting on
The bright
Onyx and gold
UFO

To arrive.

MEMO

I’d choose every day
Any way it wants

Since a beast
Becomes
An all-for-one
Saviour:

The curator of
Untinkered
Life additions
At the bit

Taste-testing each
Part of it…
