Saved
By Laura Rodley
Red squirrels shall save me,
how they burrow in new snow,
sink their bodies in darkness
and pop back up six
feet away, never still,
never bored, anxious
twitter of their tail,
as with delicate paws
they twirl sunflower seeds,
seeking succor, devouring hearts.
