Somehow, love

Charred remains
a split version
of some truth
has dug in
its wild dog

working an instinct
for cravings.

The sky is blood.

Branches
that manage to
keep regenerating
bear witness
to repeat horrors
over centuries.

Somehow, love
with its singular craving
enters the frame.

Teeth sink into the apple
sweet juices
running down in rivulets.
