LAST ORDERS
On a piece of paper
I have the last words you wrote
Lotto
Telly Bingo Independent
l’d laugh and say ‘Mom, l think now after all these years
I know what your Sunday morning order is’
‘Just in case you forget’
I’m glad you didn’t listen to me.
WHO AM I AGAIN
Where are all its colours
His garden’s now so bare
The years just took their toll
His own thoughts now very rare
Memory’s gone forever
Who am l again
Some days does he remember
He’s still in his own skin
A fleeting light bulb moment
Then the light goes out
Walk in to the past
Not sure what he’s about
The path brings back a memory
But it doesn’t last
Gone in milliseconds
The mind is sinking fast
So hold his hand and tell him
Who he is again
And maybe it will help him
Remember where and why and when.
A POEM FOR YOU
I see your book of poems
Has pages that are bare
Here are some words to fill it
So you can read them anywhere
Read them when you’re painting, a picture of the sea
Read them when you’re feeling down so you can picture me
Read them when you’re laughing, when you haven’t got a care
Read them when the wind, is racing through your hair
Read them when you’re lying down, staring at the stars
Read them when you wish you could be all alone on Mars
Read them when you’re lying, wide awake in bed
Read them when you want to calm the madness in your head
Read them when you think that no one else is there
Read them when you’re dreaming you’re floating in mid air
Read them when you’re lost, waiting to be found
Read them when it’s me and you with no one else around
Read them when you think that no one thinks of you
Read them when you feel like no one else has got a clue
Read them when your eyes are trying not to sleep
Read them when you want to smile for they are yours to keep.
