Mike Cullinane is a rare New Jersey native who has been writing for most of his life: post cards, letters, poetry, a brief journalism career, and spellbinding corporate presentations. He has previously contributed to The Galway Review, Failed Haiku, Sad Girl Diaries and anthologies published by Moonstone Art Center. After a moderately successful career, he spends most days as the project manager of his own life, serving friends and family when needed, while being mentored by a 2 1/2 year old.

Richter Relativity

There once was a Jersey shaker,
We were told it was a faker.
It rang the church bell
Lots of tchotsckes fell.
4.8 is a baby earth quaker.

The shock wave gave a scare,
Mobile phone “WTFs” clogged the air.
The radio started to sing,
Jerry Lee, Elvis, even Carol King,
And I’m shakin’, running for the stair.

Fahgetabout Richter relativity,
My disaster donations received validity.
Life in a ring of fire,
I’m not bound by wild desire,
To rock in a fault line city.
