Head & Shoulders

I see you through your looking glass
You’re smiling back at me
You laughed with me when I was small
Eat from our apple tree
Gone before you’d see me Seek out the swallow’s nest
With me on your shoulder
We stood tall above the rest In my hand an ice cream
You asked me for a lick I held it up as you bent down
I still have your walking stick You left a fresh peeled onion
On a plate inside the door
Each time you passed, you ate a slice
I was only 4
Lying in your bed I asked Mom were you a priest
She said you were just sleeping
That your soul had been released
