Make up
(A Memory of Micheál Mac Liammóir – 1974)
Make up
milky brown around a rounded face
asleep, head thrown back
in a hot spot well lit from the hanging sun
pencilled black eyebrows
raise and fall unhurried
difficult lines, well learnt, on a well lived face
twitch on a squeak from a studio door
a cleaner and passing few exchange wry smiles
Still, an audience never the less!
a one man show from a black leather chair
in Radio reception
